Eligibility Pathway a

Education

Ph.D. Degree in Sunni Theology in accordance with the University Grants Commission Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as applicable. Candidates registered for Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 are governed by the then existing Ordinances, Bye-laws or Regulations of the degree-awarding institution, subject to the conditions stated in the advertisement.

Other

  • For candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009, the Ph.D. must have been awarded in regular mode, the thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners, an open Ph.D. viva voce conducted, two research papers published from the Ph.D. work with at least one in a refereed journal, and at least two papers presented from the Ph.D. work in conferences or seminars sponsored, funded or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency. Fulfillment of these conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Controller of Examinations of the concerned University.
  • NET, SLET or SET is not required for Master's Programmes in disciplines for which NET, SLET or SET is not conducted by UGC, CSIR or any similar test accredited by UGC. The advertisement states this exemption note but does not separately state a positive NET, SLET or SET eligibility requirement in pathway A.

Pathway a Master's or Equivalent

  • Alternative 1 of 3. Master's degree in Sunni Theology with 55% marks, or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed, in a concerned, relevant or allied subject from an Indian University.

  • Alternative 2 of 3. Fazil of any well reputed Sunni Madrasa with adequate knowledge of English.

  • Alternative 3 of 3. Equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

Eligibility Pathway B

Ph.D. degree from a foreign university or institution ranked among the Top 500 in the World University Ranking at any time by Quacquarelli Symonds, Times Higher Education or Academic Ranking of World Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Salary & benefits

₹1,500

per sitting

Payment is Rs. 1,500 per lecture subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month as per University rules.

    The list of eligible candidates for interview will be displayed on the webpage of the Department of Sunni Theology. No separate interview letter will be issued.

    Interview

    The interview of all eligible candidates will be held in the Department of Sunni Theology, Faculty of Theology on 22 October 2026 at 10:00 AM onwards. No TA/DA will be paid.

Eligibility notes
