Selection process

Main Written Examination
Objective type MCQ examination for 100 marks over two hours. Each question carries one mark, with negative marking of 0.33 mark for each wrong or multiple answer. PwBD candidates must score at least 45%, and all other candidates at least 50%, to qualify for the Viva-voce Test.

Viva-voce Test
Oral interview for 40 marks. Candidates must obtain at least 40% to be eligible for inclusion in the Final Merit List. It is tentatively scheduled for December 2026 or January 2027.

Selection summary

Selection consists of a 100-mark Main Written Examination followed by a 40-mark Viva-voce Test. Final selection and the centralized wait-list are prepared from aggregate marks in both stages according to merit.

Eligibility notes

Eligibility is determined as on 20 October 2026. Candidates require a Bachelor of Library and Information Science or equivalent degree from a Government-recognized university, a prescribed certificate in basic computer knowledge, sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi, and two years of experience in a well-organized library after obtaining the degree. A Law degree is preferred.

Application instructions

Candidates must apply online through the HC-OJAS portal. For District Judiciary establishments, candidates must select three districts in order of preference. District preferences cannot be changed after selection. No district preference applies to Industrial Courts and Labour Courts.

Important notes

All 30 vacancies are in the General category. Two District Judiciary vacancies are reserved for women and two are reserved horizontally for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. The High Court may adjust or alter vacancies at any stage.
