Overview

ICMR New Delhi intends to engage two Medical and Non-Medical Scientific Consultants on a purely temporary contractual basis for one year.

Experience

At least 12 years of post-qualification experience. PhD is considered as 4 years of experience irrespective of actual duration; MD/MS or equivalent as 3 years; MVSc as 2 years; MPH is not counted as experience.

Age

Minimum age 40 years and maximum age 70 years.

Skill

Proven competency and success in the area of specialization.

Scientific-Medical Alternatives

  • Alternative 1 of 4. MBBS in a relevant subject. One of the listed qualification alternatives.

  • Alternative 2 of 4. BDS in a relevant subject. One of the listed qualification alternatives.

  • Alternative 3 of 4. BVSc in a relevant subject. One of the listed qualification alternatives.

  • Alternative 4 of 4. Equivalent degree in the relevant subject. Alternative qualification expressly permitted by the notification.

Scientific-Medical Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience

  • Experience writing study protocols, training protocols, CRF, consent forms, guidelines and manuscripts.(Desirable)

Computer knowledge

Selection process

    Written Test

    If more than 30 candidates apply for a post, a written test consisting of 50 Multiple Choice Questions carrying one mark each and related to the duties of the position will be conducted. Retired personnel are exempt from the written test.

  2. 2

    Personal Interview

    If fewer than 30 candidates apply for a post, selection will be based on personal interview only. If a written test is conducted, final selection will use combined written test and interview marks. Retired personnel will undergo interview only.

Selection summary

If more than 30 candidates apply for a post, a written test of 50 MCQs carrying one mark each will be conducted, followed by a personal interview, and final selection will use combined marks. If fewer than 30 candidates apply, selection will be by personal interview only. Retired personnel will undergo interview only. The final merit list will be based on the written test, if conducted, and personal interview.

Eligibility notes

The recruitment covers Consultant (Scientific-Medical) and Consultant (Scientific-Non Medical) positions. Both require proven competency and success in the relevant specialization, at least 12 years of post-qualification experience, and an age between 40 and 70 years.

The completed application must include a recent passport-size photograph and self-attested copies of relevant educational and professional qualification documents, experience certificates and publications, if any. Applications submitted after 19 October 2026 at 5:30 PM will not be considered. Incomplete applications, applications not in the prescribed format, or applications without photograph, signature or supporting documents are liable to be rejected.
