Ph.d. Awarded Pathway
Ph.D. in English Literature or a related Humanities field such as Postcolonial Studies or Culture Studies.
Ph.d. Thesis Submitted Pathway
Ph.D. scholar in English Literature or a related Humanities field who has submitted the thesis but is awaiting award of the Ph.D. Degree or provisional degree. The provisional or degree certificate must be submitted within six months from the date of appointment. Failure to submit it within the prescribed period may result in cancellation of appointment or a decision in consultation with the thesis processing authority.
Salary & benefits
Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow
₹67,000
per month
Eligibility for ₹67,000 rate
Applicable to candidates whose Ph.D. Degree or provisional degree has been awarded. HRA is additionally payable as per Institute rules.
₹35,000
per month
Eligibility for ₹35,000 rate
Applicable to candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis but are awaiting award of the Ph.D. Degree or provisional degree. HRA is additionally payable. Full fellowship is restored from the date the Ph.D. Degree or provisional degree is awarded.

Selection summary
Merely meeting the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
Eligibility notes
Applicants must be Indian nationals. A Ph.D. in English Literature or a related Humanities field is essential, although scholars who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible subject to submission of the provisional or degree certificate within six months of appointment. Research and writing ability in English and literary or cultural analysis with theoretical reflection are essential.
