Dental Surgeon Essential Eligibility
All stated eligibility conditions must be satisfied.
Education
Recognized Dental qualification included in the First or Third Schedule to the Indian Dentist Act, 1948, as amended from time to time.
Skill
Candidate must be able to speak Manipuri (Meetei/Meitei Lon) or any Tribal dialect of Manipur.
Other
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Candidate must be a permanent resident of Manipur, or have a parent or higher ancestor in direct lineage who is a permanent resident of Manipur with proper documentary proof. Proper documentary proof may include enrolment in the electoral roll and birth certificate. Domicile certificates or other residential certificates are not accepted in place of the required PRC.
- Registration with a State Dental Council.

Written Examination
The written examination carries 85 marks and consists of 85 multiple-choice questions to be answered in two hours. Basic Medical Science carries 23 marks and Dental Speciality Subjects carry 62 marks. Each correct answer carries 1 mark and each incorrect answer attracts a deduction of 0.33 mark.

Viva Voce and Physical Interview
The interview carries 15 marks and candidates will be assessed by a Board constituted by the Commission with Subject Experts. Final merit is based on the combined written examination and interview scores.

Selection summary
Selection consists of an 85-mark Written Examination followed by a 15-mark Viva Voce and Physical Interview. Final merit is based on the combined marks. Candidates will normally be called for interview in a ratio of three times the number of advertised posts in each category, with candidates tied with the last shortlisted written-exam candidate also called.
Eligibility notes
Candidates must be citizens of India, be able to speak Manipuri or a Tribal dialect of Manipur, satisfy the prescribed permanent residency condition, be 21 to 38 years old as on 23 September 2026 subject to applicable relaxation, possess a recognized dental qualification under the Indian Dentist Act, 1948 and be registered with a State Dental Council.
