Citizenship Alternatives

All alternatives except Indian citizenship require a Government of India certificate of eligibility.

Alternative 1 of 4. Citizen of India.
Alternative 2 of 4. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan. Government of India eligibility certificate required.
Alternative 3 of 4. Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 intending permanent settlement. Government of India eligibility certificate required.
Alternative 4 of 4. Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam intending permanent settlement in India. Government of India eligibility certificate required. Tanzania includes formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar.

Pass in M.Sc., MS, MCA, B.E. or B.Tech. in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Sciences, Computer and Networking Security, Software System, Information Technology or Informatics, singly or in combination. Qualification must be obtained by 30 September 2026. Equivalent-qualification claims are not accepted. Recognized Open University/Distance Education qualifications require the stated regulatory approvals.as of 30 September 2026

Computer Sciences and Information Technology GATE Requirement

Must also satisfy the common educational qualification.

Valid GATE score in Computer Sciences and Information Technology, paper code CS, from 2024, 2025 or 2026. Submit the best score from one eligible year for this discipline. No minimum numerical score is stated.

Electronics and Communication Engineering GATE Requirement

Must also satisfy the common educational qualification.

Rank eligible registered candidates using their best valid corresponding GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 score. Years receive equal weightage. Ties: older GATE year, older candidate age, then higher percentage in the essential qualification declared in the application.

Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates attend with downloaded Authorization Letter, original documents and one recent passport-size colour photograph. Successful verification and all eligibility conditions are required before provisional appointment. Absence, doubtful identity, missing originals or mismatches result in rejection without extra time.
