Eligibility
Pathway a
Master's degree requirement together with the applicable NET, SLET, SET or Ph.D. qualification pathway.
Education
Master's degree in a relevant or allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. (minimum 55%) Equivalent grade in a point scale is accepted where a grading system is followed.
Academic record

NET, SLET, SET or Ph.d. Requirement
Education
Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with the University Grants Commission Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2018 and amendments, as applicable.

National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar UGC-accredited test such as SLET or SET.
Other
For candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009, exemption from NET, SLET or SET is available subject to the prescribed pre-2009 Ph.D. conditions. Conditions include award of Ph.D.; thesis evaluation by at least two external examiners; open Ph.D. viva voce; two research papers from Ph.D. work with at least one in a refereed journal; at least two conference or seminar presentations based on Ph.D. work; and certification of these conditions by the Registrar or Dean, Academic Affairs.
Pathway B
Alternative Ph.D. pathway based on world university ranking.
Ph.D. degree from a University or Institution ranked in the top 500 in the World University Rankings at any time by QS, Times Higher Education or Academic Ranking of World Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
